Multi country Capacity Building workshop on compliance with environmental legislation

A first training workshop has been held in Croatia (20-22 May 2014) followed by a workshop in the
Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (10-12 September 2014) and Turkey (18 – 20 November
2014). The present workshop is the fourth module in the series of the multi-country workshops to be
held in each of the eight beneficiary countries.
The main subjects in the consecutive workshops are:
- Inspection Management
- Implementation IPPC/IED
- Cross cutting issues IED
- SEVESO
- Common inspection/site visit
General Objective
Increasing the effectiveness of inspection bodies and promoting compliance with environmental
requirements.
Specific Objective
Capacity building regarding compliance with environmental legislation through better understanding
of implementation issues and identification of targeted solutions (training of inspectors and permit
writers in cooperation with law drafters and policy makers).
Target group
The target institutions and beneficiaries are the environmental inspectors and permit writers of the
Ministries of Environment in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the Former Yugoslav Republic
of Macedonia, Kosovo
*, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey. Each beneficiary country is entitled to
nominate up to four representatives to attend this regional training.
Expected Results of the training
The following result is expected for this activity
- improved functioning of environmental inspection and enforcement organizations;
- streamlined working methods and implementation of best practice in the region moving
towards EU standards.
