Sub-Regional Workshop - Capacity Building on compliance with environmental legislation

A first training workshop has been held in Croatia (20-22 May 2014) followed by a workshop in the
Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (10-12 September 2014), Turkey (18 – 20 November 2014),
Montenegro (21 – 23 April 2015), Albania (8-10 September 2015), Bosnia and Herzegovina (17 – 19
November 2015), and Serbia (12-14 April 2016). The present workshop is the 7th module in the
series of the multi-country workshops to be held in each of the eight beneficiary countries.
The main subjects in the consecutive workshops are:
- Inspection Management
- Implementation IPPC/IED
- Cross cutting issues IED
- SEVESO
- Common inspection/site visit
General Objective
To increase the effectiveness of inspection bodies and promoting compliance with environmental
requirements.
Specific Objective:
Capacity building regarding compliance with environmental legislation through better understanding
of implementation issues and identification of targeted solutions (training of inspectors and permit
writers in cooperation with law drafters and policy makers)
Expected Results of the Workshop:
- improved functioning of environmental inspection and enforcement organizations;
- streamlined working methods and implementation of best practice in the region moving
towards EU standards.
